Amazon Introduces AI Listing Tool
Amazon’s hopping on the AI bandwagon with an AI-generated product listing tool.
Currently in beta testing, and only available to select sellers, the tool uses a ChatGPT-style input box to “generate content for Title, Description, and Bullet Points from a small input.”
Scary, huh?
But what does this mean for sellers?
It’s too early to tell. AI-generated listings take one less competitive element away from a product listing (bulletin points, for example.)
This begs the questions:
1. If every listing uses AI, how does one gain a strategic advantage?
2. Won’t all listings read mostly the same?
It’ll be interesting to see what impacts this will have, if any.
Nevertheless, it shows Amazon’s dedication to integrating new tech and experimenting with AI trends.
Level Up with Premium A+ Content
I always recommend sellers become brand-registered and unlock Amazon’s A+ Content.
When scrolling a listing, A+ Content is the website-like section that appears after the product information and before the reviews. It’s typically full of additional photographs and infographics.
A+ Content helps stand out against competition and increase conversions.
But they’ve recently leveled up with Premium A+ Content.
Available to sellers under certain conditions, Premium A+ Content allows for video comparisons, Q&A sections, as well as higher-resolution photos.
The added features give sellers a chance to highlight their product and outshine competitors.
Don’t sleep on this exciting (and lucrative) new feature!
Small and Light Program Ends | Amazon Introduces Low Price FBA Rates
Amazon’s small and light program gave sellers the option of registering low-priced, light, and small items in order to receive lower Amazon FBA rates. The catch was shipping times were slower than non-enrolleed items.
However, the program ended on August 29 in lieu of Low-Priced FBA Rates:
Under this change, all Amazon products priced under $10 will enjoy…you guessed it, lower FBA rates.
According to Amazon:
“The new FBA rates for low-price products will be an average of $0.77 lower per item than the current FBA rates for these products. If your products were enrolled in Small and Light and are priced below $10, this change will mean that you will pay about $0.30 more per item than with Small and Light, but your items will now ship with the faster FBA fulfillment speeds.”
The great news is that low-priced FBA products will not be subjected to the increased holiday FBA rates, which begin October 15, 2023, and last until January 14, 2024.

Autumn Prime Day to Take Place in October
Amazon hosted a two-day Prime sale this past July. The first day of the event, July 11, was the most profitable in the company’s history.
They’ve recently announced a second Prime event, to take place sometime in October. The specific dates have yet to be announced.
The event, along with Black Friday, Cyber Monday, plus the holiday shopping season, will make for a busy and profitable Q4.
Does Amazon Have A Product Research Feature?
Amazon’s Product Opportunity Explorer first launched last spring as a way for sellers to explore demand for new products. It deserves a mention here.
First, I think it’s safe to say it’s effectively an in-house product research tool. This is huge, especially at no additional cost to the $39.99 seller central professional plan. And honestly speaking, this feature packs a punch. Here’s a short list of how I’ve used it.
- Idea verification
- Exploring search terms
- Refining PPC targets
- Gaining valuable niche metrics and data
I could go on and on, but I highly suggest experimenting with this feature.
But will it replace product-research software entirely?
Who knows. I’ve been using it as a supplement to Helium 10. And while I prefer Helium 10’s overall functionality, it’s definitely an impressive feature to experiment with.
Counterfeit Crime Units Files Law Suites
Amazon’s global-counterfeit crime unit continues to crack down on scams and fraud; having recently busted a counterfeit DVD ring, as well as fraudsters selling counterfeit Fire T.V. remotes.
The moves show Amazon’s dedication to creating a safe platform that holds bad actors and fraudsters accountable for scams.
Seller Central Orders Older Than Two Years to Be Archived
Beginning this month, orders older than two years old will be automatically archived on Seller Central.
I recommend downloading all your reports or buyer information prior to the 24-month cut-off, even if you don’t think you’ll need them, as they can come in handy for tax purposes.
In general, I try to keep such documents for at least seven years (but that’s just me.)
Amazon states the following concerning the update:
“If you require any buyer information for accounting or tax purposes, make sure that you download it by the end of August, or within two years of the order placement.
Archived orders still contain many other data fields, including purchase date, product name, ASIN, quantity, price, tax, customer charged a shipping fee, and sales channel.”
