How Do I Deal With Rising Amazon Fees?
Amazon recently announced a series of fee changes for 2024: Here are the main takeaways as I see them.
- Amazon is charging more for poorly managed inventory
- They’re slightly reducing fees around peak fulfillment season (October-January)
- Amazon will reward sellers that use its supply chain network
Seller Central Account holders can find a detailed breakdown here.
This is nothing new: Amazon’s been raising fees yearly since I began selling, and I will continue to do so. Here’s how I’ll stay ahead of fees in 2024 and beyond.
- Focus on building a brand and increasing brand exposure
- Continue exploring options for multi-channel fulfillment (Such as Shopify)
- Experiment with Social Shopping like Tik Tok Shop and Amazon Live
- Regularly review product costs and margins (especially as fee changes begin kicking in this spring.)
The Future of E-Commerce?
Source: U.S. Census Bureau November 2023
U.S. e-commerce retail sales have continued to increase steadily in the past year. And worldwide e-commerce sales are expected to skyrocket for the foreseeable future. Furthermore, Amazon’s stock has seen impressive gains in 2023, surging over 75%.
This is great news for Amazon sellers. But because the e-commerce space is constantly changing, here are some difficult-to-ignore trends moving into 2024:
- Social shopping is expected to dominate e-commerce in 2024
- Consumers are trending towards eco-friendly and sustainable products and packaging
- Augment Reality (AR) will play an increasingly larger role in a customer’s shopping experiences
