Happy Friday! Here are a few resources I’ve created and a few things I’ve been enjoying outside Amazon FBA.
Podcast That Ruined My Social Life
What Alcohol Does to Your Body, Brain & Health by Andrew Huberman on the Huberman Lab Podcast. If you don’t know who Andrew Huberman is, he is a Neuroscientist at Stanford and he breaks down some very complicated subjects on how our brains and bodies work into an actual language I can understand.
This is super helpful in my quest to be as healthy as I can and for my understanding on why my brain betrays me half the time when I want to sit down and work OR when I am fighting off the urge to binge a whole container of Chips Ahoy.
On this podcast, he goes into great detail on how alcohol affects our brain and body. As a guy who goes to a brewery 1-2 times a week, I felt I had to listen regardless of how painful it might be….and it’s fascinating and a little sad to be honest. Alcohol does not have a lot of pros, and has a good amount of cons even when you only consume on a moderate level.
Tough pill to swallow to find out the truth, but a necessary one if you want to make the best decisions possible. A great listen for everyone.
I’m Addicted To Fantasy
So I have a problem…
That problem is Fantasy Football. I am obsessed.
Every year when I play, it sucks up days of my time during the football season that could be going to my business, working out, or just in actual reality.
I tell myself every year that I am going to quit because I can’t just play a little and it sucks up so much time,so naturally, I just started my 8th year in the league.
It is a work in progress I guess. If you play or are interested in playing, the best fantasy football site and app is definitely Sleeper in my opinion.
Lyrics Kill Deep Work
We can all agree music is awesome for when we are working.
I struggle to get into deep focus on bigger tasks/projects when listening to music with lyrics though. This could just be me, but when there are lyrics I am far more distracted and struggle to think deeper about the topic at hand.
When working on bigger projects I try to listen to music without lyrics or with the fewest amount of lyrics as possible. Right now I am obsessed with ODESZA and Kygo (has a bit more lyrics).
It is upbeat electronic music that gets the blood going and seems to help me focus. Maybe it might help do the same for you.
Freezing My B***’s Off
I recently just invested in a Cold Plunge tank. If you don’t know what these are, they are essentially an ice bath that is ready to use whenever, just without the ice.
They can get down to anywhere between 34-39 degrees Fahrenheit. My plan is to start my work day with a cold plunge every single day.
You may be asking, why in the fudge would you do this Camron?! Sounds ludicrous to sit there and freeze!
There are actually tons of health benefits from cold plunging every day, just like there are from sitting in a hot sauna. Benefits like less inflammation, muscle recovery, fat burning, getting an increase in dopamine and norepinephrine, and many more.
Plus, if you can painfully sit through frigid water first thing in the morning, the rest of your work day will be a piece of cake.
I first saw this from a guy named Wim Hof who is most famous for climbing Mt. Everest barefoot and only in shorts.
Learn more here about the benefits of Cold Plunging here from Wim.
Also, Dr. Huberman has a great podcast on Cold Exposure as well.
