With its huge product catalog, massive reach, and fast delivery speeds, Amazon dominates the e-commerce game.
So it’s no wonder why so many people are taking advantage of Amazon’s partnered selling programs like Amazon FBA, and making tens of thousands of dollars in the process.
But is there a budget-friendly approach to starting an Amazon FBA business in 2024?
Here are some tips and tricks to get started on your first $30K per month product, without all the expensive startup costs.
Priority #1: Avoid Mistakes
Death.
Taxes.
Amazon FBA mistakes.
These things are for certain.
In all seriousness though, one of the most costly (and frustrating) elements of starting an FBA business are the setbacks that take time and money to correct.
Take it from me, I lost $15,000 by taking cheaping out on a supplier.
So what can you do to limit the number of costly mistakes? Learn as much as possible.
In addition to diving deep into the YouTube rabbit hole, here are some other tips to get you started.
- Read all the boring fine print of every download, subscription, guideline, etc. The fine details are important, especially when it comes to fees and hidden costs.
- Stay up to date with news from Amazon Seller Central. E-commerce changes quickly, and tiny shifts and have big impacts on margins and operations.
- Hiring experienced help is a guaranteed way to avoid setbacks and fast-track profits since you’re learning through someone else’s experience.
Aim for $15-$20 Products
Question: When product researching, what price point should you look for to ensure profits without the astronomical startup costs?
Answer: $15-$20
In my experience, fees and shipping devour profits from products less than $15 on Amazon. That means you’ll want to aim for products over $15.
Take Advantage of Amazon’s Vine Program
Social proof carries a lot of weight in a successful online business.
For Amazon FBA, social proof comes in the form of reviews.
And since customers buy based on reviews, the faster you can acquire a healthy amount of 5-star reviews, the less money you’ll have to spend on PPC and external traffic.
Amazon’s Vine program is a terrific starting point for gaining early reviews and earning customer’s trust.
Practice with a No-Cost Product
I was surprised to hear how my friend Steve started a successful clothing company with zero startup costs.
Here’s how he did it.
Strapped for cash, and freshly laid off from his job at Marshall’s, Steve began experimenting with print-on-demand services such as T-Spring and Redbubble. Since products aren’t printed until an order comes through (in his case, mostly stickers and t-shirts), there are no startup costs for inventory.
He chose #LivingTiny as his niche/keyword (this was 2020), and began filming short-form content from his family’s 2002 Chrysler Town n’ Country.
“I dusted off grandma’s caravan and started filming myself cooking in it once a day, then posted it to TikTok. The stickers sold like hotcakes…probably because they were tiny. The shirts didn’t do bad either. I turned a decent profit despite the poor quality of print-on-demand products.”
He used the profit to start a brand and now sells corduroy-style hats through Amazon FBA (unrelated to Living Tiny).
Here are two important lessons from Steve’s saga:
- Niche and timing matters. Steve’s stickers sold because he had the right idea at the right time. The same is true when finding Amazon products; look for emerging trends, not trending products.
- Use Amazon to Scale – Testing products through print-on-demand, or self-fulfillment is a great way to test an idea, but it’s difficult to scale without Amazon’s automation services.
Once you’ve market-tested a product, leverage Amazon’s services to scale and increase output and profits.

Are You Ready to Say Goodbye to Your 9-5 and Live on Your Terms?
Building a “mini brand” on Amazon is one of the best ways to make over 6 figures in 2024.
And unlike what most people tell you, you don’t need to:
- Invest a crazy amount of money in inventory to start
- Find dozens of winning products (you only need 1)
- Have prior marketing or business experience
The reason this method of selling on Amazon is ideal for people who want REAL freedom and wealth is because:
- Your income is separated from your time
- Amazon does the selling & customer service for you
- Once you have lots of consistent sales you can actually SELL the business as an asset for multiple 6 or 7 figures
Anyone who tells you Amazon is dead in 2024 is probably using the same outdated methods & tools being taught 3-5 years ago.
The truth is, there are hundreds of complete beginners still starting and scaling brand-new Amazon stores using the method we teach.
